9TH Annual IRONMAN 70.3 New Orleans race to take place Saturday, October, 22, 2017; General registration opens November 10, 2016
NEW ORLEANS, La. (Nov. 10, 2016) Premier Event Management officially announced today that the IRONMAN® 70.3® New Orleans race will move from its former April date to October, with a new event date on October 22, 2017. The race will keep its traditional New Orleans Lakefront course and venue.
“We look forward to bringing the IRONMAN 70.3 New Orleans event into our fall calendar next year,” said Jeff Edwards, Vice President of Operations for IRONMAN. “New Orleans is a sensational venue that continues to provide a vibrant destination for athletes and families to experience a world-class race.”
The race will begin with a 1.2-mile, closed course protected water swim in South Shore Harbor alongside Lake Pontchartrain. Competitors then bike 56 miles on an out-and-back course which travels through the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge. The 13.1-mile run will feature a lakefront run out-and-back on Lakeshore Drive, with a spectacular finish at the South Shore Harbor Marina on Stars and Stripes Boulevard in New Orleans.

IRONMAN 70.3 New Orleans will offer 30 slots to the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on September 1 and 2, 2018 in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
